Over 500 bird species have been reported in the Gaoligong Mountains, accounting for more than half the number in southwest China's  Yunnan Province and nearly 40 percent in the country.

Running from southwest China's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau all the way to the Indochina Peninsula, the Gaoligong Mountains form magnificent massifs over 600 kilometers. It has become one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet.
